Week 5 Generic Harvoni
« on: July 09, 2017, 02:39:39 pm »
I am new here but not new to this disease. I have been carrying this virus with me for most of my adult life. Diagnosed in 1995. Chose to ignore it basically and then even when I decided to see a liver specialist and the doctor wanted to put my on treatment (the old treatment) and I asked what the success rate was - 50% - I told him to forget it - I would wait for something that had a 80%+ treatment success. He was angry at me - maybe not going to get his cut.
Fast forward to May 2017 - I decide to go to Thailand for a vacation and I happen upon this website that connects me to a man that can provide me the generic form of Harvoni for a fraction of the cost.  I live in Mexico now but originally from Canada. I have always been more holistic than western medicine however we know we can't cure a virus holistically. So I decide to get this drug.

As soon as I put it in my body I could feel it! As I said I don't take any pills etc from the pharma companies - try to treat myself holistically with essential oils and CBD oil.

Today I start on my second bottle - up until yesterday it was kicking my butt - pure exhaustion, nausea and a terrible headache. Today is the best I have felt since I started this treatment.

I was told not to take anything while on the treatment but I have been reading that people are taking Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D - when I mentioned this to the advocate that put these meds in my hands he said try to push through it and let the medicine work.
Anyone have an opinion on this? Since I am my own doctor driving this show, it would be nice to know what others are doing.

Hi Roxanne,

Welcome to the forum, and grats on getting your treatment.

I didn't take the same treatment but was advised by my doctor to stop all supplements and vitamins as it could create a problem with the effectiveness of the treatment.

Even when the Ribavirin, that was part of my treatment, caused severe anemia, no vitamins or supplements were suggested to relieve the extreme fatigue.  I pushed through without them, and am now cured.  No pain, no gain, I guess, lol.

In the end, if an advocate is all you got then I would listen to them,.

Anyway, best wishes for a cure!  :)

I really don't think that vitamins are likely to cause any problems while taking these meds, and they might even help - but the conventional wisdom (echoing CS) is to try not to take anything - just in case.
You want to give yourself the best possible chance for a cure, eh?

I went without my usual cocktail of supps for the 3 months I was on treatment, and it was just fine.

Eating well helps with side-effects, as does drinking plenty of water.

I don't know if you eat meat, but if you do, that'll provide all the B12 you might need - and you can get all the Vitamin D you need just by catching a few rays.

Best of luck with the treatment!

A.

Hi Roxanne,

I just started June 22nd. I am curious, what is your viral load count now? I am totally with you, trying to stay healthy by natural means. I am curious what your results are because of the essential oils you mentioned. I too use essential oils and now I'm thinking I am going to have to stop using that too. :(

I stopped drinking water kefir, taking high doses of Vitamin C, and now I am also stopping any essential oils because I really want to get totally cured.

TIA
