Welcome, Mickkie. You haven't told us which genotype of hep C you have. Assuming your doctor is some sort of hepatitis specialist (hepatologist, infectious diseases doctor, gastroenterologist who handles the hepatitis patients), he or she is probably following the treatment guidelines of the AASLD & IDSA ( http://hcvguidelines.org ) for your genotype and disease severity (cirrhosis and ascites).

None of us on these forums is a doctor; we're just people who have hep C or had it and got cured. Your doctor is the best person to answer your ascites question, but here is a previous post on the subject (reply #281): https://forums.hepmag.com/index.php?topic=3205.msg44997#msg44997

Best of luck to you,

Gnatty

Deleted duplicate and moving this thread to the general forum, but gnatcatcher gave you the correct advice which is to seek guidance from a medical professional.

Good luck and let us know if you have other questions.

I was a 3 time null responder to previous treatments with interferon based medicines. I also relapsed after treating with two of the new meds back in 2014 with Sovaldi and Olysio.

I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in Jan 2008 so with my treatment history and with having cirrhosis my doctor prescribed Harvoni for 24 weeks and we also added ribavirin to make sure I was cured.

As far as your prognosis going forward your hepatologist would be best to answer that question. But really for most of us with advanced liver disease only time will tell what will happen to the state of our liver disease post cure.

Good luck with treatment
