Looking at the finish line

At this time next Friday I'll have one pill left.I'm excited,nervous,and anxious.I'm doing my EOT labs on Tuesday so they'll be back by then.God I hope this worked.

Bill, you're good. Is it Rosie who has the crystal ball? I'm sure she'd say so, too. Not only that, but pretty much everyone who's going to tell you something similar today is totally sober -- where else but on the Hep C forums are you going to find that many sober people on the morning after New Year's Eve? SVR12*, here you come!

Bree, sorry about that -- I knew it was someone with a pink avatar who lived where it's sunny and warm ;D  Big-time congrats on your 18th sobriety anniversary -- that took a whole lotta willpower!

Bill, see, Bree's totally sober, so she's giving you a totally unjaundiced* reading of that crystal ball!

Well I'm about to start day 7.Thank you all so much for the smile and support this morning.I know now how nervous everyone else getting to EOT has felt.It almost doesn't seem real that I'm very likely cured.I've been trying to squash that little bug in my mind that keeps reminding me that I went through 11 months of hell on the interferon only to relapse.This treatment has been too easy for me and that scares me.My apologizes to those that have had to suffer through theirs.I'm just barely awake right now so I'm going to get the meds in me and go back to bed for a bit.I'll be back later. :)

The waiting is interesting. It's almost useful to break the treatment journey up into sections of waiting: waiting for treatment, waiting for the first UND, waiting for the last tablet, waiting for 12 weeks post eot. Almost ... ;)

I remember blogging about it and if I wasn't on a train heading to Tsawwassen I'd link to it because I felt the same way you do.

It turns out I only thought I was sailing through the weeks of waiting from EOT to SVR12. In retrospect, during that period my posts were very cut-and-dried, but after the UND came back, they waxed eloquent. My mind was probably trying to prevent a jinx by tiptoeing around. I didn't even have a prior relapse -- the wait seems to be even more fraught with anxiety for those who did.

Good morning all,
                         I'm awake this morning and feeling great.I've been taking Aleve PM and they've helped me sleep great the last 2 days(and taken care of that kidney stone pain).It seems to be the only thing that's helped with the sleep.I got a letter from the Veterans Admin and they want me to do my last labs over in Orlando next Friday.I've been doing them over here on the each so I'm not sure what's going on with that.I'm going to call tomorrow and find out so I'll let you all know.

 I live on the beach here in Florida and sober people are hard to find even when it's not a holiday.My numbers do make me feel better,and like this has worked.Everyone's numbers have really done nicely from the looks of it.I think they'll get better for all of us now that the dragon is dead.

       Congratulations on the sobriety,and I love that crystal ball.Take good care of it.I know I'm worrying over nothing,but after destroying myself mentally and physically(I weighed 126 lbs when that was over and I'm 5'8")on the interferon I started this treatment in a bad frame of mind.I was shocked when my numbers came back like that on week 4 but I'm very pleased with them.

       I've been breaking up the treat like that myself.It's the always waiting part that's gotten to me right now.It's seems the closer the last pill gets the harder it is to wrap my mind around this whole trip.I think the lack of sleep has had a lot to do with my frame of mind.The 2 days of great sleep has done wonders for me.I definitely recommend the Aleve PM to help with any pain and sleep,or the regular Aleve for the daytime.

            I told you I was right behind you.Turning 60 was never high on my list of things to do in life because I never expect to see 19.I retired when I was 38 so life has been good to me,except for this Hep C mess.I guess God is keeping me around because I'm so much fun and have such a great personality(grumpy but great).lol

                              They're on the counter in the kitchen.

 Hey Bill,

   I found it strangely exuberating approaching EOT. The flip side was that about 10 days before, I was obsessive/compulsive about counting the damn things. All along knowing exactly how many were in the bottle. BTW, I still have all three empties in the cabinet where I see them every morning.  I just can't seem to bring Myself to throw them away.
  When down to the wire , the mind gets a little wonky at times with all that is going on in there. Happy for You that it is getting so close. I am getting much better sleep over all since EOT despite the Sxs.
   Here is to You Big Guy! It is Your time. Go for it. Have a Beachin' time EOT fellow traveller!

I am still looking at the wall calendar I made for my 84 days, where I drew a big red "X" through each day as I took my pills. I can't take it down for some reason, even though I'll be going for my SVR24 (!!!) labs later this month. It's like I have to keep reminding itself that it's true...

Congrats Bill on being so close to the finish line!

The last week on medication was odd for me.  "Security blanket" issues with the Harvoni.  (I might still have that, actually.  :o  2 more months before 12wkEOT labs.)

I didn't get any bottles Beto,all I got was little cardboard boxes with blister packs. :) I'm already starting to relax thanks to all of you Else.I think once the 12 week labs are back I'll be able to breath again.I really didn't get hit with sxs but a few times which I'm extremely grateful for.That and the fact my numbers look great(as everyone keeps pointing out :) )are beginning to set me at ease.From the looks of it we all have gone through this at EOT to some degree.I'm going to concentrate on the fact that for the most part everyone has achieved SVR12 and so will I.Thank you everyone. :)

Bill,

The general harvoni narrative has been a bit different than what you Viekerians have experienced  :).  The three bottles of harvoni is something that 12 weekerharvonians get.  We all bought different cars and are headed in the same direction.  The beauty is the fact that we all are on the same train.  Bill your humor and heartfelt posts have been food for the hepper soul. Thank you.  I can name (right now) so many folks on this forum, that have helped me brave this road less traveled.  If I try to name everyone, I fear I might forget an avatar.

I hope I never have to deal with "riba rage".  I have great respect for those who have met that SOB.  I also have respect for the folks that won the 'harvoni hell' lotery.  Then of course we can all praise our predecessors/contemporaries that went through the dark age torcher chamber of Peg (as did you and so many others).  also, and I am not being dramatic here, but the great many that died trying to beat this.

about 18 years ago, my wife worked with a woman whose husband (like me) had 'C' and was not doing well.  My wife listened to the daily reports describing the issues he endured.  He passed within 2 years.  I sit pretty all these years later and though I took my lumps and was besieged by struggles, I saw my kids soccer, baseball, football and basketball games.  i watched them graduate from highschool and college.  I saw 18 Christmases and  a zillion sunsets. 

I don't know why these platitudes have surfaced in this moment in this post.  Perhaps I had just been thinking about them at this emotionally charged time...enter 2016.  We survivors carry a lofty torch.  I turn 60 this month and I really want to start over.  I hope I can bring something to this crazy world that is outside of myself, because before hep-c and hep-c second chance, I am not so sure sure I aced that subject.

I still have my 3 empty bottles of Harvoni in my bedstand drawer.  I don't want to let them go.  When I got the first bottle I put it on a pedestal and took photos of it.  I kissed the bottle every day before I took the pill out.... a reverence, if you will.

I was ready for this treatment, on all levels and I knew it would work.  I went in with as good as attitude as I could have.  I blessed the virus and bid it ado.  That's not to say I didn't have fears and doubts at times... I did.  I just didn't let it get the best of me.

I went through a year of hell on peg-intron and riba... in fact, I never even looked up Harvoni figuring it was a variant of that type of treatment.  My internist said that this is different.  That was late January, 2015.  After 6 months of seeking, I finally got it and I'm "cured" by the end of 2015!  That's just flat out amazing!  8)

Congratulations Everyone.. and Bill based on your numbers and everyone else's experience it appears it's only a matter of time for the official "cured" word.  You all give people inspiration and hope.. Glad you're here. Pretty cool start to 2016.
Tomorrow I will be 1/4 through 24 weeks of Harvoni.. I never used to count days.. now I count months, days, pills, hours since last dose ect....
I start week 6 on Tuesday and I'll prob go in for my labs sometime this week.. Was not in a rush over the holidays and decided to let the Harvoni do it's thing a few extra days before first labs. Best to everyone for 2016!

       I think you're a little nuts if you don't go into a treatment of any kind without some reservations.You are another one of us that had the Peg hanging over our heads when we started and that alone put us back a few squares mentally.We made it though and that's what matters now.I'm going to accept that invitation to come to Hawaii but it like leaving the beach to go to the beach for me. 8)

Thanks....I hope so because I want to get this over with....Looks like Viekira because I a have GHI (Emblemhealth) which uses Express Scripts and I fit the treatment criteria. Already got rejected, don't know why, doctor resubmitting.

Hi NY, and welcome!  The prescription written by my hepatologist was denied three times, despite the fact that Harvoni (in my case) was on my insurance's formulary.  According to my insurance, in plain language, they didn't think I was sick enough yet.

Don't give up!  Once appeals reach the level of an independent review (which is your right per the ACA), your insurance's company's denial will likely be overturned.  BUT!  Your insurance company is betting on you giving up.  Even your doctor may not think it's worth the hassle.  They don't get paid for grappling with insurance companies.

Appeal, appeal and appeal again.  You'll get your medication.
